Hair Drying Method: Air-dry
curly-kinky, low porosity, shoulder-length, medium shrinkage, medium-width strands, prone to frizz
The Prep: None
Wash & Style: 30 mins (not including drying time)
Exception This Week: No deep-conditioning
♣ I rinse away ‘old’ products from hair (in-shower) with tepid water
♣ I shampoo scalp (once) with Kinky Curly Come Clean Shampoo
♣ I rinse shampoo from scalp with mildly warm water
♣ I remove excess water from hair
♣ I zap some leave-in conditioner for 7 seconds in the microwave until liquefied
♣ I transfer warm liquefied leave-in into an applicator bottle (for ease of use) and apply to hair
♣ I let cool for 10 minutes
♣ I spritz my strands with cold water to adequately saturate prior to applying styler (this moisturises, calms cuticles, reduces the risk of greasy hair and encourages curl definition)
♣ I apply cold styling lotion and smooth through hair
♣ I apply a sliver of cold broccoli seed oil to crown (to reduce persistent frizz).
I have used heat to moisturise my low porosity hair for the past 3 years, low porosity hair is tolerant of heat and requires it to moisturise effectively.
No hair dryer or diffuser were harmed in the use of this technique.
